Rafael Ortega
Artist born in Mexico City in 1962.
Art studies at the National Institute of Fine Arts and in the Academy of San Carlos of the National University, UNAM.
Since 1984: participation in more than 20 individual and joint exhibits, murals and illustrations in different publications troughout Mexico.
As if 1987: workshops in painting, promotion of culture events, and research trips to Spain, France, and Italy.
1999 - 2001: Founder and director of the Cultural Center in Bahías de Huatulco, Oaxaca.
2002: Opens Art Café: "La Luz Azul" as a forum for Contemporary Art.
2004: Opens the Artwork Atelier in Bays of Huatulco, an Art Gallery and painting & sculpture workshops for children, youths and adults.
In 2006: International Individual Exposition “Visions of a Mythical World” by invitation through the Mexican Embassy in Austria; presented within the context of the Summit Meeting of Presidents of the European Union and Latin America”.
2007 – Upon invitation from the University of Bratislava, Slovakia, represents Oaxaca during the Days of Mexican Culture in Slovakia with a solo exhibition entitled “Between the Colors of Water and Fire” at the Dubrovka Gallery.
Solo exhibition "Transformations from the Past" at the Museum of Oaxacan Painters in the City of Oaxaca.
2008 – For the second time appointed director of the Cultural Center in Huatulco, Oaxaca.
2010.- Internacional Exhibition "Messages of Water" at Dubravka Gallery, Bratislava, Slovakia, in the Mexico´s Independence Bicentenary Conmemoration in Central Europe.
